Mark and Janine got engaged last February of this year. Yesterday, they finally tied the knot. We didn’t get to cover the civil ceremony rites, but instead, they asked us to cover prep time and the reception.

It was a small wedding of just thirty guests. Janine’s mom was the one who contacted us. When she said that it was just intimate and not the usual wedding, I was IN it already. I love small weddings. I get to expose myself to the authenticity of the moment. It doesn’t get covered by the many fluffs of a big wedding. Not that it’s a bad thing, but it is just a preference of mine that I got to understand and feel all these years that I have been documenting weddings.

I guess it’s like that as we grow older. We try to peel coverings and really look inside. We find meaning and let go of pretense. This goes to people too. We value those who love us back. We seek understanding from people who we consider friends and family.

Thank you, Janine and Mark, for letting us in your love story. We may not know each other very well (because we just met yesterday), the things we knew were enough to allow us to capture the palpable love you have for one another. Keep loving each other hard!
