Yesterday I photographed an intimate wedding set up by Wild Reverie. Mabby asked me a few days ago if I could photograph her work. She said that she’s an amateur florist and stylist for weddings. It got me curious and I said yes. I went! I found everything pretty. Black lace, naked cake, white flowers and candles and the light overhead. There wasn’t anything amateur about the whole set up.
It brought be back to those days when I offered my service to a friend for free. I asked Sheila of Lush Blooms if she’d be kind enough to allow me to take pictures of her work. I was just starting and like my Mabby I considered myself an amateur. To this day, I am still grateful that she gave me that chance.
What really surprised me was the reason for the celebration. I initially thought that it was for a wedding, but instead a celebration of love between two ladies. I deeply wish I was yesterday’s photographer. I don’t get to witness something like that often. In our conservative society, only the open minded and the modern thinkers understand such things. I salute their courage for celebrating the love they have for one another. I didn’t get to personally meet them. I am a believer that when it comes to love, it has nothing to do with age, race, religion and even preference.
