That first look: Mark and Angel
It rained so hard that day! The ceremony was supposed to be at the beachfront. It broke my heart when the ceremony had to be transferred indoor. My imagination of a fiery sunset and fluffy clouds above and all those beach elements while Mark and Angel say their I DO vanished in thin air as quickly as those rain drops fell so madly! Surprisingly, the sun shone two hours before the ceremony. They didn’t have enough time to transfer everything again. Sometimes we think it is possible to just transfer everything from one place to another during a wedding set up. But it takes people and time to make it happen.
I asked Mark and Angel if they wanted to to do the First Look. “Do you want to do the first look thingy???” Angel asked quite puzzled, “what’s that?” I had to explain. I realized after that it is not a common practice here in the Philippines. Elders or parents find this strange and unacceptable. I guess because in the traditional way of doing things during weddings, the bride and groom see each other for the first time at the altar. The first glance is when the bride walks down the aisle. Her gaze transfixed to the groom. Soooooooo there I was asking something different. It took Mark and Angel some time to convince their parents.
We brought Mark to the beach front while Angel approached from behind him. She tapped Mark on the shoulder and Mark turned to face her ever so slowly. When they saw each other for the first time, it felt like fireworks were up there in the sky and they were lost in their own little world. We, the documenters (photo and video) fired away like there was no tomorrow. Moments like these makes me want to capture more FIRST TIMES!
Here are some photos of Mark and Angel’s December wedding.
