Spring, Fall, Summer: Philip & Mikee
I’m still high from Philip and Mikee’s engagement session. We had so much fun! I was a bit nervous when Mikee told me that her ballet teacher will be around to coach her movements. I was like — uuuuhhh!! ooohhhh! oh no! But everything went okay. She just made sure that Mikee had the perfect stance. I have a not-so-nice image of ballet teachers. When I was a little girl, my mom enrolled my sister and I in ballet class. My ballet teacher was so strict! Attending the class was pure torture especially during drills when I had to put my leg in a bar. I didn’t quite understand back then the reason why I was in ballet class. I was never the graceful little girl. I didn’t wear pig tails with ribbons nor did I wear pink dresses. I climbed trees instead and played under the heat of the sun — hide and seek, bato-lata, tubig-tubig. I stopped going! I couldn’t even wear my pink tights right. What more with being graceful!
Mikee and Philip was a joy to photograph. The connection was there. It was palpable! They laughed at each other’s silliness. Their three supportive friends were there. They cheered and helped (especially the leaves) make everything else easy.

The first time I met Philip, he was formal. But yesterday, he loosened up.
Isn’t she lovely. Such grace…
She didn’t have a flat surface to tiptoe on. Her legs grew tired, but she carried on.
The first set was all about Spring. The stylist, Guada, brought a huge plastic full of flowers. She asked an ice-cream vendor to climb the tree and hang the flowers. I had to do a little speech about being organized and all those. But the ice-cream man was happy to do the hanging for her. He said it was better than being under the heat of the sun with a big bag on his shoulder and a bell in his hand.
The second set was in improvised set for the fall season.
It took five people to gather and throw leaves at them.
I love how candid they were.
We ended the day with SUMMER in our mind.
