November 9, 2015 / Couple's Session Engagement Session
Singapore to the Philippines: Matthew & Jocelyn
It all started with a single email from Jocelyn. She’s the lady behind The Wedding Vow Singapore. The months that followed were a series of emails of planning. Finally, last Thursday I met Matthew and Jocelyn for the first time. They flew all the way to Cebu from Singapore for a two day engagement session. I instantly liked them! The chatter and banter inside their room in Crimson Resort and Spa was the happy kind. It was important for me to find that connection. I was grateful for the time spent waiting for Jocelyn’s make up to finish. It was the perfect opportunity to find that rhythm.
Lately, it isn’t about taking pictures anymore. I mean, it hasn’t always been about JUST taking pictures for me. I think my journey as a photographer has come full circle. I feel that it has to be something more. More than what is there in front of me. I have to dig deep and really interpret in photographs what my heart is trying to convey. If you know what I mean? It’s hard to explain.. It’s a photographer thingy, I guess! About growing up and wanting to do things differently. Finding that niche and not following the crowd because this and that is doing this and that! It used to scare me to be different! But time and experience taught me that it’s okay not to be like everyone else. I guess I’m weird like that! That I should not short change my self and that it’s okay to get rid of the photographer’s guilt (like price increase)!!
I’d like to thank Matthew and Jocelyn for this great opportunity. I mean I’m pretty sure they checked out tons of talented photographers in Cebu alone. I wanted to ask them why me??? But I was too shy to even steer the conversation towards my question.
Nonetheless, I enjoyed every minute of it. I was worried about the light initially but all went well. I had to remind myself to trust! Trust the timing. Trust the process. Trust that I’ll do fine even when the sun was so up there.
Here are some photos.

As they say write from thy heart… It’s tiring to pretend and write something that isn’t really there. If you know what I mean…
