October 30, 2015 / Child Session Family Photo Session Mother & Child
Randi.
I was super excited for this session. Not only because I enjoy her parents friendship, but also I wanted to capture this little girls funny expression that I always see in Facebook.
Like all the other birthday sessions, I didn’t have a set of expectations. I mean when I photograph babies or couples, I don’t follow a template. I don’t expect my subject, especially babies, to be a certain way in front of the camera. For this session, Randi didn’t warm up during the first set. I think the whole set up overwhelmed her. Senses on a high. She only started warming up after the Alice In Wonderland set.
There’s a trail of happy memories with this family. It all started with the engagement session we did about two years ago, followed by the wedding and then the maternity session and the new born session and finally Randi’s pre birthday session. She’s turning one next month. Happy birthday in advance Randitot!
I love family sessions. Not many realize the value of family photos until it’s too late. Family photos hold stories together. Tangible reminder of family relationships. A record of life experiences and memories made visible. It’s very ironic though that as a photographer, I don’t have a set of family photos. I mean I photograph the people in my life but without me in it. My biggest question is who will do mine???
