Engagement & Wedding: Alex & Minerva
I don’t think I’ll go back to the man made forest ever again.
While shooting Alex and Minerva’s engagement session, a child was hit by a car. I saw everything and I can’t get it out of my head. How, after the child was hit, the pick up truck slowly parked to the side. The lady driver grew white and didn’t really know what to do. I can’t forget the sound of the child’s head hitting the black asphalt. How I stopped shooting and ran to the scene only to look and not do anything. Coward!
I really wish the child survived. She looked dead when the mother picked her up to bring her to the hospital. In an instant, I’m sure life changed for that family. The guilt the mother must have felt. The never ending if only!
I searched the net to check for news about the accident. I couldn’t find anything. I tried asking nurse friends who are based in Bohol if they heard of an accident at the man made forest. I just wanted to know that the little girl was alright.
I read past news about how the man made forest in Bohol could be an accident-prone area. People run in the middle of the road to take selfies. I am guilty of doing such! I had an engagement session back in March and I asked my couple to go in the middle of the road not thinking that I was putting them in danger. Never again will I sacrifice safety over a photograph that I want to achieve.
