Carmel Joy in one of her emails mentioned that Andrew and her were in a long distance relationship.  She wanted to use the telephone  in one of her engagement set.  So many images came to mind!  Should we play with vintage phones?? But that has been used by so many.  A room full of phones!  The question was where.  Colorful old phones!  But where could we buy them?  Then a thought came to mind….

Back when I was a little girl, my friends and I used to climb trees and call each other through our imaginary phones – tin cans.  Back then those worked for me.  Forward to the modern world, we have gadgets that could bring us closer to the people we love, be it family or the man of your dreams.  I asked, “How do you communicate?”  Both answered – FaceTime.  Been there!  Done that!

I totally get how very challenging long distance relationships are.  I have a high respect for couples that I have worked with in the past who were in the same situation.  It takes a lot of effort (endless), patience (tons), understanding (deep), and a different kind of love!  The commitment has to be strong to survive distance (which could be very lonely); bad phone connections, interrupted video calls, and the misunderstandings and arguments in between.

And on their wedding day, I just knew that in my heart, happy endings do happen.  I am a firm believer that long distance relationships do work, just like Andrew and Carmel’s.
