Easy breezy engagement session: Japs and Raqz
Sometimes couple would tell me about their story. I feel very privileged every time I get to have a glimpse of how they are as a couple. Stories inspire me and it helps me as a photographer. I want to be an efficient story teller. Maybe that’s why I prefer candids and in between poses. Those moments when their guard is down and they let themselves be. I don’t like everything to be so perfect because nothing really is, right? I want realness and even if it gets very cheesy and corny, although corny is nice, I still want to capture what’s there and what’s real.
That’s how I explain myself when I meet couples for the first time. I’d listen and then I tell them how I am as a photographer. I want couples or families to choose me because of how do my work. I did try to change how I did things in the past, but I found myself to be very pretentious. It wasn’t there anymore. It was like staring at a blank space. I’ve met couples of course who didn’t get me as their photographer. When I first started, I felt bad and though badly of how I was as a person and as a photographer. But then I later learned that my client and I has to have that connection. We can’t connect with everybody, can we? I learned through the years that it’s fine. It is fine not to book every wedding inquiry I receive. It is the couples right to shop for photographers that fits their style.
